Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home (EBD)

Full-Time | Fixed-Term Contract (12 months)
£16.01 – £17.07 per hour | 40 hours per week
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established provider of therapeutic children’s residential care, supporting young people aged 8–18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Deputy Manager to play a key role in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care while supporting and leading a dedicated staff team.
The Role
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day running of a residential home, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and development of the young people in line with Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Act.
Key Responsibilities

Support the Registered Manager with daily operational leadership

Supervise, mentor, and lead residential care staff

Ensure care plans are effectively implemented and reviewed

Maintain high safeguarding and regulatory compliance standards

Contribute to staff training, development, and performance management

Monitor young people’s wellbeing and respond appropriately to their needs

Maintain accurate records and reports

Promote a positive, nurturing, and structured environment

Participate in an on-call rota (out of hours, approx. every 5 weeks)
Essential Requirements
-
Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare / Children, Young People & Families / Health & Social Care (with children’s experience)

Experience working within children’s residential care

Previous supervisory or management experience

Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted requirements

Excellent communication and leadership skills
-
Compassionate, resilient, and child-focused approach

Full UK driving licence
