Job Title: Lead Speech & Language Therapist – Band 7

Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Speech & Language Therapist with a strong background in neurological rehabilitation to join a specialist clinical team.
This role is ideal for an experienced Band 7 SLT, although Band 6 Speech & Language Therapists with strong neurological rehabilitation experience are also encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will provide advanced assessment and treatment for patients with complex communication, swallowing and cognitive impairments, including individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injuries.
Key Requirements
· HCPC registration as a Speech & Language Therapist
· Strong experience within neurological rehabilitation
· Experience working with acquired brain injury (ABI) and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI)
· Dysphagia training and experience essential
· Experience with complex swallowing and communication difficulties
· Experience supporting patients with tracheostomies and weaning
· Strong clinical risk management skills
· Approximately 3 years' Speech & Language Therapy experience preferred
· Experience supervising, supporting or developing other SLTs is desirable for the Band 7 position
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver advanced assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing difficulties
· Work with patients experiencing complex neurological and cognitive impairments
· Provide specialist dysphagia assessment and intervention
· Support tracheostomy management and weaning
· Lead and supervise the SLT team
· Provide training to SLTs and the wider multidisciplinary team
· Contribute to clinical audits, outcome measures and research
· Support service development and strategic planning
· Participate in staff supervision, appraisal and professional development
· Work collaboratively with Physiotherapy, Nursing and the wider multidisciplinary team
